A Welcoming Place for Children
The Center for Alexandria's Children is a new facility that will focus on the prevention, treatment and investigation of child abuse, based on a nationally-proven model involving a multi-disiplinary approach. The facility which will open soon at 1900 Beauregard St., is supported in part by the Alexandria Community Trust and various departments within the city of Alexandria including Human Services, Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse, The City Police Department, The Commonwealth's attorney, and the City Attorney. A new executive director is Summer Spencer.Volunteers began work at the Center for Alexandria Children. Walls were painted and stenciled under the direction of Sunny Goode, the creator of Sunny's Goodtime Paints.
